maha shivaratri celebration

Image hosted by TinyPic.com
On the auspicious day of shivaratri me and my friend went to gavi gangadhareshwara temple. which is a cave temple. we stood in the queue for almost 2 hours to get the darshan. But i thought it is worth seeing the deity in the garbhagudi. One of the speciality of this temple is on Makara Shankaranti each year, the suns' rays pass through the horns of the Nandi and illuminates the deity

Ohh.. Good.. Thats one of the oldest temples of Bangalore. This time I dint go..

You know there is another saying that there was a Under Ground way from Gavi Gangadhara temple to "Kashi" which is hundreds of miles away from here in North India .. Ofcourse no one has proved it in recent years. Atleast we can see 3 underground ways starting from that tremple. Some of the enthusiasts have tried researching the way.. Most of them have come back after going a mile or two.. They say the way is closed by of water.. Some of them have never returned :((
